Try your hand at making this deliciously spooky jack-o'-lantern pumpkin-shaped rice balls. A fun recipe to make with kids, and also slightly healthier than your normal rice ball with the addition of grated carrots. Kids will have fun making, and parents will enjoy it too. Try these for your next Halloween meal or snack.
Ingredients
Nori seaweed, to garnish
Celery sticks, to garnish
15 g Carrot, grated
2 tbsp. Ketchup
300 g Cooked rice
Method
01
Grate the carrot. Mix the grated carrot and the ketchup with the cooked rice until evenly combine to make a bright orange color.
02
Take a piece of cling film and place one-third of the rice into the middle. Wrap and twist the film tightly around the rice to form a small ball in the middle. Uncover and set aside. Repeat to make 3 rice balls.
03
Prepare and cut the celery sticks into small three 2-3 cm long pieces. These will serve as the stem of the pumpkin.
04
Next, cut out small pieces of the nori seaweed to make the mouth and face of the jack-o'-lantern.
05
You can try any shape you like. Insert the celery sticks into the top of the rice ball, and apply the nori seaweed to the outside of the pumpkin to make the face.
06
Wrap in cling film again, and twist tightly to secure the nori onto the rice ball. Enjoy as a snack or treat on Halloween.
