A seasonal sloppy joe's recipe that is so good you'll want to make it year-round! Thankfully, the ingredient list is pretty short and with ingredients, you probably already have in your fridge or pantry so basically, you have no excuse not to make these. Oh, and it all goes in one pot and on the stovetop!!! Winner winner, sloppy joe dinner!
Ingredients
pepper
salt
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. yellow mustard
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
1 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 medium onion, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground turkey
Method
01
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Add the turkey and break it up into smaller pieces with a wooden spoon or spatula.
02
In the meantime, while the turkey is cooking through, in a large bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the ingredients for the sauce.
03
Once the turkey has cooked through, pour the sauce into the skillet and stir to incorporate.
04
Let simmer, covered, for 10 minutes on low heat. Season to taste then serve hot with brioche buns or your favorite hamburger buns.
